Frequently Asked Questions
What are the 4Cs?
4Cs refer to the colour, cut, clarity, and carat of a diamond.
What are the shapes of a diamond?
The shapes of a diamond are emerald, princess, oval, marquise, heart, radiant, pear and round.
Does a bigger diamond guarantee greater quality?
No. The size can be your primary consideration, but remember that there are other factors such as colour, clarity and cut. A smaller diamond can have a greater value when higher marks are achieved for the other Cs.
How does carat differ from karat?
Do not confuse yourself with these two terms. Carat measures the weight of a diamond while karat determines if a metal is pure gold.
In buying a diamond with excellent quality, how can I be sure that it is authentic?
The most expensive diamonds usually come with certificates from laboratories such as GIA (The Gemological Institute of America) or NGL (Northern Gemmological Laboratories).
