Glossary
Colour - usually measured from a scale of from D to Z; D being colourless to Z which is yellow.
Cut - shaping of the stone; it could also refer to the proportion of the stone.
Clarity - "nature's fingerprints" or inclusions which refer to the impurities of a stone.
Carat - or carat weight refers to the weight of the diamond. One carat is equivalent to 1/5 of a gram or 200 milligrams.
Brilliance - refers to the ability of the stone to illuminate light from the surface.
Karat - measures the purity of the gold.
