History of Ear Piercing

Earrings go back to as far as 3000 BC in Western Asia . They were used for both for cultural and ornamental purposes then. However, as time went by, earrings started being used solely for decorative purposes. In modern society, earrings have lost their cultural role and are now used to accessorize oneself.

It is true that there is always an element of pain in piercing—a needle goes through your skin, after all. However, in capable hands, ear piercing does not have to be particularly painful. In the two seconds it takes to pierce your ear, the pain comes as quickly as it goes. Truth to be told, the pain really happens during the healing process, but even then, it can be lessened through proper cleaning and maintenance.
