Gemstones – Gemstones are precious or semi-precious stones that are mined, cut or polished.
Emerald – A highly valued gemstone that is a variety of the mineral beryl. It has a certain intensity and saturation of the green color due to traces of chromium and iron.
Mohs – this is a criterion for identifying the value of gemstones.
Refractive Index – a criterion used to measure the amount of refraction of a certain gemstone. It is basically the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light in a medium.
Beryl – A family of stones composed of alumminum and glucinum (beryllium). It is a hard mineral that has a variety of colours. Other examples of stones from beryl family are aquamarine and morganite.
Crystallisation – a process used for gemstones to turn these stones into crystal form. During the crystallization process for Emeralds, it undergoes great pressure and heat.
