Cleaning and Maintenance

Tarnish is silver's biggest enemy, but if silver jewelry is used regularly, ones natural body oils may help prevent tarnish build up. However, it is still ideal if silver jewelry pieces are cleaned regularly.

Due to the softness of silver, care should be taken when cleaning silver jewelry. Soft nub free cotton fabrics of flannel cloth should be used to wipe its surface. Always rub with a lengthwise motion and not in circular movements as this may cause scratches.

Liquid or paste-type silver cleaners may be used to make cleaning easier. Always follow manufacturer's instructions when using commercial cleaners. After cleaning, remember to wipe off any residual cleaner and rinse the jewelry in cool water.

If the silver jewelry piece is already covered with scratches, consult a bench jeweler and ask if this can still be re-polished.
