History

Discovered only after copper and gold, silver is presumably one of the oldest metals known to man. When man learned how to manipulate matter, the softness and malleability of silver made it ideal for making various adornments. It was reported to have been first mined for jewelry during the Bronze Age.
Later on, silver became highly revered for its mystic powers. Rumored to be able to hasten the healing process and bring forth good tidings, silver then had very minimal practical use. However, its value as jewelries and ornaments remained thus; silver was also used to pay off debts. The belief of silver's value may have led to its use as the basis for monetary systems, and eventually also used in international trade.
